Ruby Thorpe 1928 - 2005 Eudora
Services for Ruby Thorpe, 76, Eudora, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at De Soto Baptist Church. Burial will be in De Soto Cemetery.Mrs. Thorpe died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2005, in Overland Park.She was born Oct. 24, 1928, in West Plains, Mo., the daughter of Toy and Carrie Andrews Lane. She moved to De Soto in 1951 and to Eudora in 2001.Mrs. Thorpe worked for Hallmark Cards for more than 50 years before she retired. She was a member of several quilting guilds and won many ribbons for her show pieces. She married George Thorpe on July 17, 1948, in Leavenworth. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include a daughter, Martha Longstreth, Lenexa; a brother, Mike Lane, Missouri; and a granddaughter.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at De Soto Baptist Church.The family suggests memorials to the church, 8655 Church St., De Soto 66018.Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel in De Soto is in charge of arrangements.
