John T. Burton 1920 - 2005 Lawrence
Services for John T. Burton, 84, Lawrence, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church in Lawrence.Mr. Burton died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005, at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community in Lawrence.He was born Oct. 23, 1920, in Emporia, the son of Willard A. and Mabel Mackie Burton. He graduated from Emporia High School in 1938. He later earned a Bachelor of Science and MBA degree from Kansas University in 1947.Mr. Burton served in the U.S. Navy as a pilot during World War II and attained the rank of lieutenant. He was a stockbroker for Prudential Bache for more than 40 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.He married Bernadine Hall on Feb. 26, 1944, in Mississippi. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a son, Jack, of Houston; three daughters, Linda Burton, Lawrence, Kristy Johnson, the Woodlands, Texas, and Bernadine Brown, Perry; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.The family suggests memorials to the church gifts and memorial fund, 2415 Clinton Parkway, Lawrence 66047.Online condolences may be sent at <a href="http://www.rumsey-yost.com">www.rumsey-yost.com</a>.
