Walter T. Winchell Sr. 1937 - 2005 Topeka
Services for Walter T. Winchell Sr., 68, Topeka, will be 1 p.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home, Topeka. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Topeka.Mr. Winchell died Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, at his home.He was born Sept. 8, 1937, in Lawrence, the son of Charles M. Winchell and Melvia A. Chenoweth Winchell.He was a self-employed painter.He was married to Sandy Beers from 1962 to 1989. He married Marjorie "Marge" Hargett in 1998.She survives.Other survivors include two sons, Walt Jr. and Charlie, both of Topeka; two daughters, Tina Stevens and Jeannie Hansard, both of Topeka; three sisters, Rose Bagby, Hoyt, Carol Hale, Topeka, and Marilyn Noble, Oskaloosa; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, James Winchell, and four sisters, Mona Farmer, Thelma Eldridge, Ruth Hunter and Helen Thompson.The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Walter T. Winchell Sr. Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home, 1035 N. Kansas, 66608, Topeka.
