Virginia R. Innes 1920 - 2005 Topeka
Services for Virginia R. Innes, 85, Topeka, will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Mount Hope Mausoleum Chapel, Topeka. Burial will follow in the cemetery.She died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005, in Lexington Park Nursing Center.She was born May 22, 1920, in rural Reno County, the daughter of William H. and Ruby A. Eisminger Ricksecker.Mrs. Innes was a 1938 graduate of Partridge High School. She then graduated from Salt Creek Business College in 1940.She was a homemaker and began a business career in 1962. She was executive secretary for the commissioner of education and retired in 1985.Mrs. Innes was a charter member of the Tau Kappa Omega business sorority. She was a member of Women of the Moose, ABWA, Order of Eastern Star and the Shrine Nobelles. She was Woman of the Year for ABWA.She married John. L. Innes Sr. on July 3, 1941, in Miami, Okla. He died on March 16, 1973. Survivors include three daughters, Jean Ann Colter, Tecumseh, Debra Walburn, Auburn, and Polly McInroy, Perry; two sons, John L. Innes, New London, Minn., and James W. Innes, Topeka; a sister, June Spaniol, Casper, Wyo.; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.Friends may call after 1 p.m. today at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today.The family suggests memorial contributions to Heart of America Hospice, 3715 S.W. 29th St., Suite 20, Topeka 66614.Online condolences may be made at <a href="http://www.PenwellGabel.com">www.PenwellGabel.com</a>.
