Irene Alberta Wiscombe 1913 - 2005 Scranton
Services for Irene Alberta Wiscombe, 91, Scranton, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Grace Community Church in Overbrook. Burial will be in Appanoose Cemetery.Mrs. Wiscombe died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005, at her home.She was born Nov. 24, 1913, in Manhattan, the daughter of George Alfred and Luella York Nelson. She grew up in the Manhattan area. She lived in Franklin County for 45 years and then moved to the Osage County area.Mrs. Wiscombe was a homemaker. She was a member of Appanoose Baptist Church and the church Women's Missionary Society. She was also a member of an Extension Homemakers Unit.She married Eugene Keith Baker in 1932. He died earlier. She married Clyde Ira Wiscombe on April 9, 1939. He died Nov. 11, 1996.Infant twin sons, Willard Lee and William Eugene Baker, died earlier.Survivors include four sons, George Baker, Midwest City, Okla., Jack Wiscombe, Goldfield, Nev., Jim Wiscombe, Overbrook, and Jay Wiscombe, Pomona; a daughter, Judy Parry, Scranton; a sister, Clara Jo Parry, Wichita; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the church in Overbrook, where the family will receive them from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.The family suggests memorials to the Appanoose Baptist Church, Topeka Rescue Mission or Seedtime and Harvest, sent in care of Carey Funeral Home, P.O.
