Mary Lou Wendt 1939 - 2005 Ottawa
Graveside services for Mary Lou Wendt, 66, Ottawa, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Highland Cemetery in Ottawa.Mrs. Wendt died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005, at her home.She was born June 30, 1939, in Valley Falls, the daughter of Harry and Esther Mae Glassel Newman. She graduated from Denison High School in 1957. She had lived in Eudora and Baldwin before moving to Ottawa in 1990.Mrs. Wendt was a homemaker. She worked as a cook for Ottawa Retirement Village and Ottawa University. She later worked at the Ottawa Herald. She attended Cherry Street Wesleyan Church in Ottawa.She married Raymond R. Wendt on Sept. 20, 1958, in Denison. He died March 1, 1994.Survivors include four sons, Mike Wendt, Basehor, Danny Wendt, Baldwin, Greg Wendt, Melvern, and Steve Wendt, Ottawa; a sister, Barb Knaak, Holton; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home in Ottawa.The family suggests memorials to the Franklin County Cancer Foundation Inc., sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 14, Ottawa 66067.
