Russell Edmonds 1940 - 2005
Graveside services for Russell Edmonds Sr., 64, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Vinland Cemetery.Mr. Edmonds died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, at his home.He was born Nov. 24, 1940, in Lawrence, the son of Melvin George Sr. and Ruth Elizabeth Harper Edmonds.Mr. Edmonds graduated from Vinland High School and served in the U.S. Navy. He worked for many years as a concrete finisher in construction.Survivors include three sons, Russell L. Jr., Tonganoxie, Chadley E. and Dale W., both of Lawrence; a daughter, LaVonda Edmonds-Lichte, Mississippi; four brothers, David D. and Mark, both of Lawrence, Melvin G. Jr., Pomona, and Dale Robert, Henderson, Colo.; two sisters, Betty Jo Hurrelbrink, Sedalia, Mo., and Patricia Ann Flory, Chapman; and five grandchildren.Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive them from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
