Carl J. Blunt

Services for Carl J. “Butch” Blunt, 67, Muscotah, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton. Burial will be in Steele Cemetery in Falls City, Neb.Mr. Blunt died Monday, Nov. 21, 2005, at Holton Community Hospital.He was born July 20, 1938, in Hiawatha, the son of Harold and Helen Klumb Blunt. He graduated from Whiting High School in 1957.Mr. Blunt served in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years. He worked for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. for 33 years and became a farmer and stockman after he retired.He was a boys baseball coach in the Muscotah area and a 4-H leader in the Brush Creek area. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Whiting.He married Barbara Hossfeld on Sept. 10, 1958, in Anaheim, Calif.. She died Dec. 26, 1999.Survivors include a son, Jerry, Atchison; two daughters, Kim Hartman, De Kalb, Mo., and Lori Hanson, Lawrence; two brothers, Robert, Effingham, and Bill, Holton; seven grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and special friend Glenda Rogers, of the home.The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.The family suggests memorials to the Carl Blunt Memorial Fund to benefit the Atchison County 4-H Program, sent in care of the mortuary, 909 Central Ave., Horton 66439.
