Dale Lyerla 1918 - 2005 Prairie Village
Services for Dale Lyerla, 87, Prairie Village, will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Overland Park Christian Church.Mr. Lyerla died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005, in Prairie Village.He was born May 18, 1918, in Crestline. He graduated from Columbus High School and Wichita Business College. Mr. Lyerla worked for the Burch Biscuit Co. in Des Moines, Iowa, then moved to Kansas City where he worked for Rival Manufacturing Co. and was a plant manager for Sitka Spruce Lumber and Manufacturing Co. He owned and operated Dales Hardware and Sporting Goods Store in Overland Park. He was also a partner of Suburb Decorations of Overland Park and retired in 1973. He founded and volunteered for many organizations in the Overland Park area.He married Alberta Cromer on May 12, 1940. She died earlier.Survivors include a son, Reg, Prairie Village; a daughter, Karen Lyerla, Lawrence; three brothers, Harold D., Independence, Mo., Bill, Overland Park, and Floyd B., Pittsburg; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at McGilley & Hoge Chapel in Overland Park, and a reception will be held after the services Wednesday at the church.The family suggests memorials to the American Stroke Foundation, 5960 Dearborn, Mission 66202.
