Devon M. Miller

Funeral services for Devon M. “Dick” Miller, 72, Eudora, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Meriden Community Church in Meriden. Burial will be at Meriden Cemetery.Mr. Miller died Friday, Nov. 11, 2005, at his home after a long illness.He was born July 25, 1933, in Red Rock, N.C., the son of Allen Worth and Grace Moody Miller. He lived in Eudora since 1965.Mr. Miller was a meat cutter at Pyle Meat Co. for 30 years. He retired in 1994.He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, where he served as a tail gunner on the S.S. Valley Forge.Mr. Miller married Barbara Sue Welborn on June 6, 1959, in Meriden. She died April 15, 1990.Survivors include three sons, Stephen, Paso Robles, Calif., Donald, Eudora, and Devon Jr., Eudora; two brothers, Ken, Dillon, S.C., and Gene, Latta, S.C.; three sisters, Margaret Allen, Dillon, S.C., Melva Miller, Dillon, S.C., and Marilyn Evans, Abbeville, S.C.; four granddaughters; and a great-grandson.Two children, Terry and Susie Miller, died earlier.Friends may call after 1 p.m. Monday at Barnett’s Meriden Funeral Chapel, where the family will receive them from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday.The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Hospice and Visiting Nurses Assn.
