Floyd Frederick Torneden

Services for Floyd Frederick Torneden, 70, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lawrence Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Clinton Cemetery.Mr. Torneden died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005, at the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kan.He was born Oct. 12, 1935, in Clinton, the son of Frederick Henry and Edna May Shuster. He was a lifelong resident of the Clinton and Lone Star communities. He grew up and attended school in Clinton and graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in Lawrence in 1953.Mr. Torneden worked on the family dairy farm. He was a farmer and maintained his farm throughout his life. He started Torneden Trucking and operated it until 1982. He later worked as a truck driver for Meadows Construction Co. in Tonganoxie. He was also a truck driver for Dunbar/LRM Industries from 1984 to 2005.He married Norma “Jeanne” Campbell on March 27, 1964, in Garnett. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include three sons, Fred, Wichita, Jon, Lawrence, and Lee, Baldwin; three daughters, Janet Kessler, Perry, Cheryl Johnson, Cleveland, and Jeanne Waisner, Lawrence; a sister, Caroline Flory, Lawrence; and 16 grandchildren.Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at the chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.The family suggests memorials to Lone Star Church of the Brethren, sent in care of the chapel.
