Hal Owen Adamson

Services for Hal Owen Adamson, 78, Ottawa, will be at 2 p.m. today at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home in Ottawa with interment to follow in Highland Cemetery.Mr. Adamson died Friday, May 27, 2005, at the Ottawa Retirement Village.He was born April 19, 1927, in Emporia, the son of Fred and Amy Leona (Harris) Adamson. He graduated from Ottawa High School in 1949.Mr. Adamson served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a gun crewman in a field artillery unit. He was a member of Ottawa Church of the Nazarene. He was drafted by the Kansas City Athletics in his youth and played tennis, golf, bowling and basketball.He worked for Manor Bakery and Culligan in Olathe, for Ottawa Home Furnishings and Pence’s IGA in Ottawa, and for Star Industries in Pomona.He married Peggy Sue Yohn in Ottawa on Oct. 23, 1949. She died Jan. 2 1986. A granddaughter also died earlier.Survivors include three daughters, Melinda Sue Phillips, Waco, Neb., Anne Geiss, Russellville, Ark., and Michele Elaine Wentling, Oxford, Neb.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Frederick Adamson, Ottawa; and a sister, Twila Jameson, Pomona.The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society in care of Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, P.O.
