Lloyd H. 'Grandpa' Bleidissel 1914 - 2005 Scranton
Graveside services for Lloyd H. "Grandpa" Bleidissel, 90, Scranton, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Scranton Cemetery.Mr. Bleidissel died Thursday, May, 26, 2005, at his home.He was born Oct. 2, 1914, in Holton, the son of Herman Lewis and Ethel Viola Raboul Bleidissel. He attended school in Holton.Mr. Bleidissel was a warehouse manager for Del Monte Foods in Topeka and retired in 1977. He manufactured nitroglycerine for Hercules Powder Co. in Bessemer, Ala., and later worked at Sunflower Ordinance Plant in De Soto during World War II. He served on the Scranton City Council and Scranton School Board for several years. He was a past Osage County treasurer of the Democratic Party. He was a member or Scranton United Methodist Church and Carbondale Lodge, A.F. & A.M.Mr. Bleidissel was a member and past worthy patron of the Carbondale Chapter of O.E.S. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies, Arab Shrine Temple and DeMolay Knights Unit of the Temple in Topeka. He was also a member of the Trinity White Shrine of Jerusalem 7 in Topeka.He married Lora Mae Nash. She died. He married Lois Maxine Brackman on Aug. 16, 1952, in Bentonville, Ark. She died March 4, 2001. A son, Ron, died earlier, as well as two daughters, Darlene Langdon and Louise Murren, and a grandson.Survivors include two stepsons, Don Magnuson, Manhattan, and Jerry Magnuson, Lawrence; two sisters, Thelma McGuire, Topeka, and Rose Curtis, Holton; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and special friend, Anita Beasley.Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Carey Funeral Home in Burlingame, where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.The family suggests memorials to the Arab Shrine Transportation Fund, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
