Dorothy L. Joyce Miller 1934 - 2005 Denton
Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy L. Joyce Miller, 70, Denton, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Benedict's Church in Bendena. Burial will follow in St. Benedict's Cemetery in Bendena.Mrs. Miller died Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at Atchison Hospital after a lengthy illness.She was born Oct. 12, 1934, in Atchison, the daughter of John Martin and Olive Lucille Kout Joyce. She graduated from Denton High School in 1952. She graduated from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in 1955.Mrs. Miller was a licensed registered nurse and practiced orthopedic nursing for many years in several states. She was a nurse for Dr. Yoder in Denton from 1974 to 1986 and also worked for Heartland Health in St. Joseph, Mo., from 1986 to 1991. She was an Atchison home health nurse and retired in 1996. She was a member of St. Benedict's Church and the ladies and parish council of the church. She was a member of the Denton Alumni Assn., St. Joseph's Hospital Nursing Assn., and the Doniphan County Cheerio Club.She married Richard Wayne Miller on Dec. 27, 1955, in Bendena. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include two sons, Richard D. "Rick" Miller, Lawrence, and Patrick C. "Pat" Miller, Farmington Hills, Mich.; two daughters, Barbara A. Holder, Atchison, and Deborah S. Van Laar, New Braunfels, Texas; two brothers, John H. Joyce, St. Joseph, Mo., and Gerald W. Joyce, Denton; a sister, Rose Mary Dodge, Denton; and 12 grandchildren.A parish rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. today at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home in Atchison, where the family will receive friends until 9 p.m.The family suggests memorials to the Dorothy L.
