Services for Kevin P. Cawrey-Steffen, 22, Oakland, Calif., will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at First Christian Church in Lawrence. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence.Mr. Cawrey-Steffen died Friday, May 20, 2005, from injuries received in an automobile and motorcycle accident in Alameda, Calif.He was born July 13, 1982, in Overland Park, the son of Craig Steffen and Caroline Cawrey. He was a former resident of Lawrence and graduated from Free State High School in 2001, where he was a four-year letterman in soccer.Mr. Cawrey-Steffen was an artist and did custom painting on motorcycles. He played select soccer in Lawrence, and had traveled twice to Europe to play for a U.S select soccer club. He was a black belt in tae kwon do. He was a member and secretary of the SBF Motorcycle Club.Survivors include his mother, Caroline Cawrey, Shawnee; his father and stepmother, Craig and Janice Steffen, Lenexa; a sister, Amanda Steffen, Shawnee; a half-sister, Layne Steffen, Lenexa; maternal grandparents, Phil and Phyllis Cawrey, Lawrence; and paternal grandparents, Ruth and Vern Steffen, Larned.The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.The family suggests memorials to the Kevin Cawrey-Steffen Memorial for the assistance of young athletes, sent in care of the mortuary.E-mail condolences may be sent to info@warrenmcelwain.com, subject: Cawrey-Steffen.
