Ruth Irene Holmberg Suhler 1915 - 2005 Des Moines, Iowa
Services for Ruth Irene "Rene" Holmberg Suhler, 89, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Central Presbyterian Church in Des Moines. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery in Des Moines.Mrs. Suhler died Sunday, May 15, 2005, at Drury Place in Lawrence, Kan.She was born July 25, 1915, in Sac County, the daughter of Bror Frithjof "Charley" and Ruth Sophia Gronvall Holmberg. She graduated from Sac City High School and received her associate's degree in business at Drake University, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She lived in Des Moines, Cross River, N.Y., and Lawrence.Mrs. Suhler was a homemaker. She was a member of the Des Moines Junior League, Girl Scouts and Central Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of Waccabuc Club, Northern Westchester County Junior League, Des Moines Club and the Wakonda Club.She married Lester F. Suhler on May 25, 1940, in Des Moines. He died in 1977.Survivors include a daughter, Susan Lynne Suhler, Lawrence; a son John Stuart Suhler, Darien, Conn.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends after services at the church.The family suggests memorials to the Ruth Irene Holmberg Suhler Memorial Scholarship Fund, sent in care of the Drake University Endowment Fund, Drake University, Institutional Advancements, 2507 University Avenue, Des, Moines 50311.
