Tommie A. Christopherson, Sr.

Graveside military services for Tommie A. Christopherson, Sr., will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Eudora City Cemetery in Eudora. Mr. Christopherson died Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at Leavenworth Veteran’s Hospital.He was born Aug. 17, 1936, in Salmon, Idaho, the son of Charles and Cloe Roy Christopherson. He graduated from Portland High School in Portland, Ore. He moved to Eudora from Portland five years ago.Mr. Christopherson served in the U.S. Navy for 19 years and was in Vietnam, the Philippines and Guam. He retired after 20 years as a postman for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of the Alford-Clark Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 852.Survivors include three sons, Larrie, Tampa, Fla., Lonnie, Raytown, Mo., and Tommie, Jr., Topeka; two daughters, Jodie Christopherson, Eudora, Laurie Barnhart, Eudora; a brother, William Stanley, Oregon; two sisters, Leona Jones, Arizona, Shirley Talbot, Seattle, Wash.; and eight grandchildren.A son, John, died in December of 1995.Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary Eudora Chapel.E-mail condolences may be sent to info@warrenmcelwain.com, subject: Christopherson.
