Margaret E. Chalmers

Services for Margaret E. Chalmers, 67, Baldwin, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Osborne Chapel at Baker University in Baldwin. She was cremated.Mrs. Chalmers died Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at Baldwin Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.She was born June 3, 1937, in Port Glasgow, Scotland, the daughter of Samuel and Mary Burns Taylor. She attended school in Glasgow.She was a nanny in 1955 in Boston. She later received a degree in alcohol and drug counseling from Wayne State University in Detroit. She also cooked and taught early American cooking classes at the Henry Ford Museum Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Mich., and published a cookbook. After moving to the Kansas City area in 1989, she again worked as a nanny and retired in 2001. She moved to Baldwin in 2004.She married Walter S. Chalmers on Dec. 22, 1956, in Detroit. He died in 1982.Survivors include a son, Kelvin Chalmers, Garden City, Mich.; a daughter, Kerry Chalmers, Baldwin; and four grandchildren.The family suggests memorials to the American Stroke Foundation, sent in care of Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, P.O.
