David Boose 1927 - 2005 Topeka
Mass of Christian Burial for David Boose, 77, Lecompton, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Assumption Catholic Church in Topeka. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery in Big Springs.Mr. Boose died Friday, April 29, 2005, at his home.He was born May 29, 1927, in Topeka, the son of James C. and Grace P. Netterfield Boose. He had lived in rural Lecompton for more than 70 years.Mr. Boose was a master gemologist, jeweler, and custom clock and watchmaker. He was a businessman for more than 50 years in the downtown Topeka area, where he and his wife opened David's Jewelers in 1968.He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church and the Lecompton Historical Society.He married Nancy Elizabeth McBride on July 2, 1948, in Topeka. She died Oct. 9, 1986.Survivors include two sons, Mark S., Lecompton, and Philip A., Fort Worth, Texas; a daughter, Teresa Payne, McPherson; three sisters, Faye Ayers and Audrey Maust, both of Topeka, and Chalice Urton, Wichita; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday.The family suggests memorials to the Lecompton Historical Society, sent in care of the funeral home, 800 S.W.
