Charles Freeman Jr. 1927 - 2005 Lawrence
Graveside services for Charles Freeman Jr., 78, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oak Hill Cemetery. A family dinner will follow at 3323 Iowa, Lot 340.Mr. Freeman died Friday, April 29, 2005, at Wellsville Manor Nursing Home.He was born March 31, 1927, in Burlington, the son of Charles and Martha Elizabeth Issac Freeman.Mr. Freeman worked for Santa Fe Railroad, Coffey County in Burlington and again for the railroad out of Udall. He also worked on Interstate 70 from Grainfield to Council Grove.He married Mary Irene Butts in 1953. They divorced.Survivors include two sons, Charles, Eudora, and Junior, Abilene; three daughters, Mary Elizabeth Khalaf, Wichita, Cathy Ball, Lawrence, and Theresa Mirtz, Abilene; a sister, Rosetta Fasbender, Traverse City, Mich.; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.A daughter, Charlene, and a son, Keith, died earlier.Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will meet with friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.The family suggests memorials to Hospice Care of Kansas, sent in care of the funeral home.Online condolences may be sent at www.rumsey-yost.com.
