Jack Howard

Graveside services for Jack Howard, 86, Eudora, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Eudora Cemetery. Mr. Howard died Sunday, June 12, 2005, at Eudora Nursing Center in Eudora. He was born Oct. 20, 1918, in Tahlequah, Okla., the son of Harry and Esther Thoren Howard. He had lived in Eudora since 1946.Mr. Howard served in the U.S. Army with the 919th Artillery Battalion in Europe during World War II and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He was co-owner of Wilson & Howard Grocery from 1946 until the early 1980s. He then owned Skelly Oil Service and Tank Route Service for several years. He was a member of Eudora United Methodist Church.He married Cleo Arleta Wilson on Oct. 1, 1938, in Lawrence. She died Feb. 8, 1988.Survivors include a brother, Charles Winter, Lenexa.The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Eudora Chapel.
