Clayton C. Harris

Services for Clayton C. Harris, 71, De Soto, will be at 7 p.m. today at Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel.Mr. Harris died Sunday, June 12, 2005, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.He was born June 9, 1934, in Lane, Okla., the son of Clifford and Lucille Williams Harris. He graduated from Wyandotte High School. He moved to De Soto in 1972.Mr. Harris served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He worked for the Rock Island Railroad for 40 years before he retired. He was a member of the Choctaw tribe and a founding member of the Heart of America Indian Council. He coached flag football and baseball.He married Anita Guild. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a son, Allen, De Soto; two daughters, Charlene Webb, Bonner Springs, and Stephanie Slitor, De Soto; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the chapel.The family suggests donations to Lawrence Indian United Methodist Church, 950 E. 21 St., Lawrence 66046.
