Alice F. Geyer

Services for Alice F. Geyer, 91, WaKeeney, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in WaKeeney. Burial will be in WaKeeney City Cemetery.Mrs. Geyer died Sunday, June 5, 2005, at Trego Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney.She was born July 31, 1913, in Kearny County, the daughter of John Wesley and Anna DeVries Grusing. She graduated from Lakin High School in 1931 and received her teaching certificate from Fort Hays State University.Mrs. Geyer was a school teacher. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Trego County Historical Society and a past member of Locust Club, all in WaKeeney. She was also a member of the HDU Pleasant Valley Homemakers.She married Virgil L. Geyer. He died Aug. 13, 1999.An infant daughter also died earlier.Survivors include two sons, Galen Geyer, WaKeeney, and Merle Geyer, Lawrence; two daughters, Carolyn Garbo, Hillsboro, and Leila Geyer, Lincoln; two sisters, Edith Litton, Lakin, and Clara Warrington, Kendall; three grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and 10 stepgreat-grandchildren.Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Schmitt Funeral Home in WaKeeney, where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.The family suggests memorials to the Trego County Historical Society or the church, sent in care of the funeral home, 336 N. 12th St., WaKeeney 67672.
