Herbert H. ‘Herb’ Hill

Graveside services for Herbert H. “Herb” Hill, 96, Ottawa, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Princeton Cemetery.Mr. Hill died Friday, June 3, 2005, at Village Manor Nursing Home in Ottawa.He was born March 5, 1909, in Wheeling, Mo., the son of Theodore O. and Kathryn Mettler Hill. He moved from Wichita to Ottawa in 1974. He previously lived in California.Mr. Hill served in the U.S. Army from 1934 to 1937. He worked for the aircraft industry as a tubing specialist in aircraft assembly from 1937 until he retired in 1974. He worked for Boeing and Learjet in Wichita and Lockheed and McDonald Douglas in California. He was also an animal control officer for B. Martin Peck Animal Shelter in Ottawa from 1946 to 1948.He married Helen F. Davis on Nov. 23, 1939, in Hollywood, Calif. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a son, Cliff, Webster, N.Y.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, on Wednesday and until the service hour Thursday at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa.The family suggests memorials to Midland Hospice, sent in care of the mortuary, 235 S.
