Alvin E. Korber, Jr. 1921 - 2005 Meriden
Services for Alvin E. Korber, Jr., 83, Meriden, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Meriden United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Meriden Cemetery.Mr. Korber died Thursday, June 2, 2005, at his home.He was born Sept. 19, 1921, in Farmington, Mo., the son of Alvin E., Sr., and Adeline Beiser Korber. He lived in Meriden for many years.Mr. Korber worked for Rodney Milling Company until he retired in 1981. He also farmed until 1986. He was a life member of United Methodist Church. He was a member of Meriden Masonic Lodge AF and AM 236, Rebecca Lodge 657, IOOF Lodge 594 and Mount Pleasant Grange 1445.He married Lucy M. Govro on Jan. 22, 1944, in Farmington, Mo. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include two sons, Ed, Collinsville, Ill., Bill, San Antonio; six daughters, Barbara Ball, Lawrence, Mary Dix, Tulsa, Okla., Wanda Collins and Paula Debacker, both of Meriden, and Patricia Lee and Clara Brown, both of Topeka; a brother, Bill, Farmington, Mo.; two sisters, Wilma Ervin and Arlene Marler, both of Farmington, Mo.; 24 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.A granddaughter died earlier.The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the church.The family suggests memorials to the church building fund or Jefferson County Hospice, sent in care of Barnett's Meriden Chapel, PO Box 331, Meriden 66512.
