Harvey Junior Crist

Services for Harvey Junior Crist, 85, Wellsville, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Wellsville Baptist Church. Burial will be in Wellsville Cemetery.Mr. Crist died Saturday, July 23, 2005, at Olathe Medical Center.He was born July 16, 1920, in Paola, the son of Harve and Pearl Musselman Crist. He graduated from Wellsville High School in 1940.Mr. Crist was a World War II Army Air Forces veteran and served in North Africa, Italy, France, Germany, Austria and England. He earned the Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal and other decorations.Mr. Crist worked for Newton’s IGA in Wellsville as a butcher for three years and in the oil fields for four years. In November 1953, he and his wife purchased Clover Farm Store in Wellsville. After moving to a new location in Wellsville, they changed the name to Crist & Son Foods. They retired in 1994 after 41 years in business.Mr. Crist was a member of the Wellsville Chamber of Commerce, the Wellsville American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5901. He also was a member of the Wellsville Baptist Church.He married LuEtta Rew on July 3, 1946, in Wellsville. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a daughter, Judy Owings, Wellsville; two sons, Jim and Bob, both of Wellsville; a sister, Maurine Bond, Paola; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wilson’s Funeral Home in Wellsville.
