Graveside services for Homer E. Brown, 89, Ottawa, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Highland Cemetery in Ottawa.Mr. Brown died Friday, July 22, 2005, at Village Manor Nursing Home in Ottawa.He was born March 29, 1916, in Centropolis, the son of Orville E. and Maude Alberta Anglemyer Brown.Mr. Brown attended Ottawa schools and was a lifelong Ottawa resident. He served during World War II in the 114th Field Artillery of the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of technician fourth class. He participated in campaigns in the South Pacific and received the American Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, World War II Victory Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.He worked for 27 years as a clerk and carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He hauled milk for Walter Woods and Bennett's and was a grocery store clerk for Duke Chaney.He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post No. 5901 in Ottawa.He married Doris Jean Hoffman on Oct. 29, 1950, in Ottawa. She survives.Other survivors include two sons, Galen E., Pomona, and Richard L., Ottawa; and four grandchildren.Friends may call after 1 p.m. Monday at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa, where the family will receive them from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.The family suggests memorials to American Diabetes Assn. or Midland Hospice, sent in care of the mortuary, 235 S.
