James Russell Neff

Services for Dr. James Russell Neff, 65, Omaha, will be at 2 p.m. Aug. 6 at Dundee Presbyterian Church in Omaha. Internment will be in Arlington National Cemetery.Dr. Neff died Tuesday, July 12, 2005, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, of cancer.He was born May 8, 1940. He attended public school in Topeka, Kan. He graduated from Kansas University School of Medicine in 1966.Dr. Neff was an orthopedic surgeon. He spent a tour of duty for the U.S. Navy on the USS George Marshall as lieutenant commander. He returned to KU in 1975 and was professor of surgery from 1983 until he arrived at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1991. He was notified recently that he would receive the KU Distinguished Medical Alumni Award.He married Dr. Julia Bridge. She survives.Other survivors include a son, Gregory Ryan Neff, Overland Park, Kan.; a stepson, Robert Stuart Bridge, Omaha; two daughters, Kirsten Kjerste Gannon, Leawood, Kan., and Rachael Elizabeth Neff, Omaha; and a sister, Janice Kay Standish, Topeka.The family suggests memorials to Dr. James R.
