Richard J. Christenson 1959 - 2005
Mass of Christian Burial for Richard J. Christenson, 46, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence. Burial will be in Mount Sidney Cemetery in Linwood.Mr. Christenson died Monday, July 11, 2005, at his home.He was born Jan. 24, 1959, in Junction City, the son of Wilber and Roberta Frazier Christenson.Mr. Christenson was a contractor for R.J.C. Custom Construction and C. Rich Inc. in Lawrence. He visited inmates at the Douglas County Jail with the Ambassadors of Christ. He helped build the De Soto Youth Ministry and was involved with many athletic groups and Cub Scouts. He was a member of both St. John the Evangelist Church and Holy Family Catholic Church in Eudora.Survivors include his wife, Susannah, of the home; three sons, Richard and Matthew, both of the home, and Blane, El Paso, Texas; two daughters, Rachel Christenson, Lawrence, and Elizabeth Christenson, of the home; and a granddaughter.A rosary will be said at 6:45 p.m. Friday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.The family suggests memorials to Catechesis of the Good Shepherd-St. John's, Tall Oaks Prayer Garden, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
