Dorothy Joan Redding

Services for Dorothy Joan Redding, 75, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church in Lawrence. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence. Mrs. Redding died Friday, July 8, 2005, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. She was born Oct. 4, 1929, in Waverly, the daughter of Walter and Margaret Painter Northcott. Mrs. Redding was a retired office secretary for the Douglas County Commissioners and Bert Nash Mental Heath Center. She formerly taught school in a one-room schoolhouse west of Waverly. She was a member of First Christian Church, Christian Women’s Fellowship at the church, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and a former member of 4-H. She married George Marlin Redding on June 19, 1949, in Waverly. He survives, of the home. Other survivors include two daughters, Shannon Zuelke and Marla Johnson, both of Longmont, Colo.; a sister, Karen Fischer, Scranton; and four grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
