Edna B. Kenney 1919 - 2005
Funeral services for Edna B. Kenney, 85, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. July 11 at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, Houston.Mrs. Kenney died Sunday, July 3, 2005, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community.She was born Oct. 11, 1919, in Salisbury Conn., the daughter of William and Emma Feltham Johns.She was a graduate of St. Luke's School of Nursing in New York City. In 1971, after raising her family, she returned to her profession and worked many years as a geriatric nurse in Texas.Mrs. Kenney moved from Katy, Texas, to the Kansas City area in December 1990 and to Lawrence in December 2002.She married John D. Kenney Jr. in 1942. He died in 1983.Survivors include four daughters, Marion Kenney, Lafayette, Calif., Alice Black, Franklin, Texas, Christine Kenney, Lawrence, and Joan Kenney, Houston; three sons, John Kenney, Leawood, Richard Kenney, Oakland, Calif., and Larry Kenney, Round Rock, Texas; a sister, Dorothy Rice, Tennessee; and five grandchildren.One daughter, Leslie Kenney, died earlier.The family suggests memorials to Heart of America Hospice or City Union Mission in Kansas City, Mo., sent in care of the mortuary.
