Gerald G. Gile 1923 - 2005 Wichita
Services for Gerald G. "Jerry" Gile, 82, Wichita, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Westlink Christian Church in Wichita.Mr. Gile died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, at his home.He was born Dec. 2, 1923, in South Haven, the son of Harlan and Nell Gile. Mr. Gile retired from Kansas Gas Service Co. He umpired and officiated for 28 years and was inducted into the Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame in 2004. He will be inducted into the Kansas College Officials Hall of Fame in March.Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, of the home; four sons, Harlan, Wichita, Galen, Bowling Green, Ky., Jeff, Azle, Texas, and Mark, Lawrence; a daughter, Nancy Coleman, Wichita; two brothers, Bob and Chester, both of Wichita; four sisters, Margaret Stevens and Jean Powell, both of Wichita, Nelda Greiving, Derby, and Vera Preibe, Oklahoma City; 18 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.Two grandchildren died earlier.The family suggests memorials to Hospice Care of Kansas, 3241 E. Victor, Wichita 67208, and Harvest Community Church, 8340 W. 21st St., Wichita 67205.Broadway Mortuary in Wichita is in charge of arrangements.
