M. Jane Miller 1916 - 2005 McPherson

Services for M. Jane Miller, 89, McPherson, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Glidden-Ediger Chapel in McPherson. Private family burial will be in McPherson Cemetery.Mrs. Miller died Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2005, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.She was born Aug. 29, 1916, in McPherson, the daughter of Charles Serf and Dorothea Swanson Pettit. She graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1933 and Hutchinson Junior College in 1935.Mrs. Miller was a homemaker and a physician's clerk for Dr. Weir Pierson in McPherson. She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in McPherson and the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary in McPherson.She married Burr Oakes Miller on June 17, 1936, in McPherson. He died Aug. 11, 1981.Survivors include three sons, Larry Miller, Wichita, Philip Miller, San Marcos, Calif., and Brent Miller, Armonk, New York; three daughters, Sally Griffin, Wichita, Sydney Soderberg, Salina, and Bunny Smith, Lawrence; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the chapel.The family suggests memorials to the church, Memorial Hospital Auxiliary or the Burr Miller Scholarship Fund at Central Christian College, sent in care of the Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home, 222 W. Euclid St., McPherson 67460.
