James Louis Morris

Services for James Louis Morris, 73, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Heritage Baptist Church. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Lecompton.Mr. Morris died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005, at his home.He was born Aug. 5, 1932, in Marked Tree, Ark., the son of William Earl and Tessie Ruth Boyd Morris. He lived in the Lawrence area for eight years and lived in Valley Falls for 29 years before moving to Topeka.He was in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, serving from 1950 to 1954. He was a supervisor of personnel at the DuPont Co. for 31 years and retired in 1990. He was a member of Heritage Baptist Church.He married Gracie L. DeShazier on May 13, 1953, in Jonesboro, Ark. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a son, Ronald, Salt Lake City; two daughters, Diana L. Evans, Topeka, and Michele Morris, Lawrence; two sisters, Alice Williams, Truman, Ark., and Nita Zahn, Shreveport, La.; and four grandchildren.Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Lawrence Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.The family suggests memorials to the church, sent in care of the chapel.
