Arnold Janousek

Services for Arnold Janousek, 75, Billings, will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Billings. Burial with military honors will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Red Lodge Cemetery in Montana.Mr. Janousek died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005, at his home.He was born Jan. 9, 1930, in Kanona, Kan., the son of Fred and Edyithe Louise Rohr Janousek.He graduated from Decatur Community High School in Kentucky in 1948. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in math and physics in 1952 and a Master of Science degree in math and physics in 1956, both from Fort Hays State University in Kansas. He received a doctorate in philosophy in 2005 from Oaklands College in England.Mr. Janousek served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 with the 508 MP Battalion in Munich, Germany, during the Korean War. He was an assistant instructor in the math department and an assistant director of the computational center at Kansas University. He was a project system analyst at Trans World Airlines in Kansas City, Mo., from 1963 to 1983. He was a computer specialist for the Bureau of Indian Affairs at Haskell Indian Nations University from 1984 to 1992, when he moved to Billings. He continued to work for the BIA in Billings until 2005.He served as a scout master for Boy Scout Troop 52 in Lawrence for 16 years and was active in Scouting in Billings. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.Mr. Janousek married Eleanor Ruth Deeter on Dec. 29, 1957, in Norcatur, Kan. They later divorced.Survivors includes a son, Guy M., Lawrence, Kan.; two daughters, Cecile Nanette Janousek Befort, Shawnee, Kan., and Jenifer Lynn Janousek, Lawrence; and four grandchildren.The family suggests memorials to the Boy Scouts of America troop of the donor’s choice.Smith Funeral Chapels in Billings is in charge of arrangements.
