Services for Ramiro Ramirez, 76, Copperas Cove, will be at 2 p.m. today at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove with a rosary to follow. A funeral Mass will be said at 12:45 p.m. Jan. 26 at Fort Myer Chapel in Virginia. Burial will follow in Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.Mr. Ramirez died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, in Temple, Texas.He was born March 24, 1929, in Puerto Rico,Mr. Ramirez served in the U.S. Army for 30 years and retired as a command sergeant major in 1981. He served for six years in Vietnam and was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross. He also received two Silver Stars, the Legion of Merit Award, Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Army Occupation Medal, Good Conduct Medal Clasp, Expert Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, Combat Infantryman Badge, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Staff Service Medal, Armed Forces Honorary Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, Vietnamese Service Medal and three Bronze Stars. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member of the Catholic Church.Survivors include his wife, Hermine Ramirez, of the home; two sons, Andrew, Lawrence, and Rodney, Ashland, Mass.; a daughter, Deborah Ashby, Williamsburg, Va.; five grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and a great-grandchild.The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home before the services.The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Assn., 1700 Rutherford Lane, Austin, Texas 78754.Visit the Ramiro Ramirez Everlasting Memorial at www.mem.com.
