Glaydes Detwiler

Graveside services for Glaydes “Joan” Detwiler, 73, Ottawa, will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Highland Cemetery in Ottawa.Mrs. Detwiler died Monday, Nov. 28, 2005, at Olathe Medical Center.She was born Feb. 26, 1932, in Rantoul, the daughter of Henry and Ida Lavaun VanLoenen. She graduated from Ottawa High School in 1950 and was a lifelong resident of Franklin County.Mrs. Detwiler worked as a supervisor for King Radio in Ottawa from 1974 until she retired in 1994. She was also a homemaker. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post 5901 Auxiliary, both of Ottawa.She married Junior Detwiler on April 19, 1952, in Ottawa. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include a son, Keith Detwiler, Richmond; a daughter, Debbie Sams, Ottawa; four sisters, Fern Keeny, Kansas City, Mo., Amy Howell, Pomona, Louise Brooksher, Wichita, and Becky Chapman, Lawrence; a brother, Alan VanLoenen, Lawrence; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.The family suggests memorials to the American Arthritis Foundation, sent in care of the mortuary, 235 S.
