Mary Strobel Rockers

Mass of the Resurrection for Mary Strobel Rockers, 93, Topeka, will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Topeka. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Topeka. Mrs. Rockers died Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, at Topeka Presbyterian Manor.She was born Sept. 8, 1911, in Scipio, the daughter of John and Anna Steinbacher Strobel.Mrs. Rockers was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, a 50-plus year member of Daughters of Isabella Little Flower Circle 503, a member of Hayden Mothers Club, Sacred Heart Altar Society, Third Order of Carmelites, St. Monica Guild at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Topeka, Topeka Chapter of Mothers of Priests and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 226 Auxiliary.She married Jake Rockers on June 27, 1933, in Scipio. He died earlier.A grandson also died earlier.Survivors include three sons, the Rev. Al Rockers, Basehor, Floyd Rockers, Topeka, and Glenn Rockers, Hays; two daughters, Lillian Maggard, Olathe, and Carolee “Kip” Jewell, Overbrook; a brother, Richard Strobel, Garnett; three sisters, Bernice Rockers, Ottawa, Hilda Patton, Palo Alto, Calif., and Ethel Meyers, Overland Park; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where there will be a Daughters of Isabella rosary at 4:30 p.m., an Altar Society rosary at 5:30 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. today.The family suggests memorials to Sacred Heart School, sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 S.W.
