Kenneth J. Rehmer 1920 - 2005 Yates Center

Services for Kenneth J. Rehmer, 85, Yates Center, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church in Yates Center. Burial with military honors and Masonic services will be in Yates Center Cemetery.Mr. Rehmer died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2005, at Coffey County Hospital in Burlington.He was born May 19, 1920, in Wichita, the son of Royal G. and Minnie Houchin Rehmer. He grew up in Woodson County and attended school in Yates Center.Mr. Rehmer served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for many years at Lawrence National Bank. He had served as Woodson County Clerk and also worked for the Woodson County Road and Bridge Department. He was a member of First Christian Church, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Senior Center, all in Yates Center. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Toronto, Kan.He married Melba A. Swilley on Feb. 24, 1943, in Eureka. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a son, James M., Eudora; two daughters, Linda Thompson, Cave Creek, Ariz., and Julie Green, Lawrence; a sister, Harriett Lake, Yates Center; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Campbell Funeral Home in Yates Center.The family suggests memorials to the First Christian Church, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
