Betty Virginia Pearson

Services for Betty Virginia Pearson, 84, Pocatello, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, at Congregational UCC Church in Pocatello.Mrs. Pearson died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2005, in Pocatello, due to complications of cancer.She was born April 25, 1921, in Tulsa, Okla., the daughter of Glenn and Lillian Tate. She graduated from University of Chicago High School and graduated with high honors from Idaho State University College of Education. She lived in Chicago, Miami Beach, Lexington, Ky., Fredericksberg, Va., Denver, Pocatello and Lawrence, Kan. She retired to Pocatello in 1986.Mrs. Pearson taught mathematics at Pocatello High School. She was later an executive director for United Way in Lawrence. She married George Scruggs in 1942, in Lexington. He was killed in World War II during the invasion of Sicily. She married John Pearson on July 4, 1945, in Fredericksberg. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include a son, Robert B. Pearson, Lawrence.The family suggests memorials to Southeastern District Hospice, 1901 Alvin Ricken Drive, Pocatello, ID 83201.
