Eugene G. Cook 1914 - 2005 Meriden
Services for Eugene G. Cook, 91, Meriden, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Meriden Community Church in Meriden. Burial will follow in Meriden Cemetery.Mr. Cook died Aug. 10, 2005, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.He was born May 5, 1914, in Rock Creek, the son of Charles E. and Elsie M. Sturgeon Cook.Mr. Cook served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He operated Standard Oil Bulk Station for 10 years and served as a rural mail carrier for Meriden Route 2 for 25 years until he retired in the early 1980s. He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and a charter member of Meriden Kiwanis Club.He married Neva Rose Puderbaugh on Aug. 28, 1939, in Oskaloosa. She died July 7, 2003.Survivors include two sons, William A. "Bill," Meriden, and Larry, Houston; two daughters, Linda Rice, Ozawkie, and Dorma J.C. Gottlieb, Miami.The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Barnett's Meriden Funeral Chapel.The family suggests memorials to the Meriden Community Church Building Fund, sent in care of the chapel, P.O.
