James N. Cote 1934 - 2005 Perry
A Mass of Christian Burial for James N. "Jim" Cote, 70, Perry, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Perry. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery in Meridan.Mr. Cote died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005, at St. Francis Hospital, Topeka.He was born Oct. 3, 1934, in Concordia, the son of Fred Joseph and Bernadette Valentine LeSage Cote. He lived in Perry for 15 years after moving from Meriden, where he lived for many years. He was a 1952 graduate of Meridan High School.Mr. Cote was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict, serving from 1955 to 1957.Mr. Cote worked as a gunstock builder at Welch Wood Products Co. He also had worked for Topeka Farm Equipment Co. and for Underwood John Deere Co. He also was a bicycle repairman for several years.He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church and was a charter member and Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus in Perry. He also was a member of American Legion Post 142 in Perry.Survivors include three sons, Jason, Edward and Stuart, all of Lawrence; four brothers, Pate, Boise, Idaho, and Robert, Tom and Ron, all of Meridan; and two sisters, Jeri Retzloff, Boise, and Gladys Petesch, Meridan.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Theresa Church in Perry, where a parish prayer service will be at 7 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.The family suggests memorials to the church building fund, sent in care of Barnett's Meriden Chapel, P.O. Box 331, Meriden 66512.Barnett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
