Elizabeth "Betty" Milliken 1911 - 2005 Lawrence
Services for Elizabeth "Betty" Milliken, 94, Lawrence, will be at a later date.Mrs. Milliken died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.She was born Feb. 24, 1911, in Detroit, the daughter of Andrew Kaloz and Barbara Lucy Kaloz. She also lived in Lansing, Mich., and Plant City and Lakeland, Fla.Mrs. Milliken worked as a house cleaner, soda fountain jerk, nursing home aide and grapefruit peeler. She was an artist, and her work is displayed in the Grassroots Folk Artists of Kansas booklet and museum in Lucas, and was displayed at the Bizarre Bazaar and the Cancer Survivors Show at the Lawrence Arts Center. She also was featured in Rare Visions & Roadside Revelations. She was a member of the Lawrence Arts Guild and Folk Art Society of America. She was also an honorary mother of the Founding Mothers of the Bizarre Bazaar. She was a Southern Baptist and a deaconess in the First Church of Flowers, Art and Music.Mrs. Milliken married Arthur Vail. He died earlier. She married Johnnie Hubble. He died earlier. She married Albert Hansch. He died earlier. She married Junius Milliken.
