Edith Snow Stepp Hoffine

Services for Edith Snow Stepp Hoffine, 90, Bonner Springs, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs. Burial will be in Lenape Cemetery near Bonner Springs.Mrs. Hoffine died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005, at her home.She was born Dec. 10, 1914, in Carroll County, Ark. She moved from Arkansas to the Frankfurt area. She later moved to Bonner Springs, where she graduated high school in 1933. Mrs. Hoffine worked as a clerk for the Iris Grocery Store and Watson’s Drug Store. She later retired from Russell Stovers Candies. She was member of the Loring Sunshine Club, Bonner Springs Senior Citizens, and the Delaware Dancers and Kountry Kickers Square Dance Clubs.She married Emmett Hoffine on Aug. 13, 1936, in Topeka. He died in 1991.Survivors include a son, James “Jim” Hoffine, Bonner Springs; and three daughters, Patricia Wolfe, Linwood, Muriel Selanders, Kansas City, Kan., and Kathleen Saving, Lawrence; two brothers, Carl Stepp, Smith Center, and Don Stepp, Casper, Wyo.; a sister, Marjorie Hubbs, Collinsville, Okla.; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.The family suggests memorials to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, sent in care of the funeral home.
