Joyce Ann Williams 1933 - 2005 Lawrence
Services for Joyce Ann Williams, 72, Lawrence, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home in Lawrence. Burial with military honors will be in Leavenworth National Cemetery.Mrs. Williams died Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.She was born Jan. 4, 1933, in Wrightsville, Pa., the daughter of Walter and Ester Lentz. She was raised in Wrightsville and moved to Lawrence in 1962.Mrs. Williams served in the U.S. Navy. She worked as a nurse at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Topeka and retired in 1988. She married Gary V. Williams on April 16, 1955. He died in 1992.Survivors include a son, Gary Michael Williams, Lawrence; and three daughters, Marsha Miller, Gardner, Karen Hummelgaard, Tonganoxie, and Sandy Sangster, Lawrence; a brother, Earl Lentz, Pennsylvania; and a sister, Ruth Kober, Pennsylvania; and seven grandchildren.Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday.The family suggests memorials to the American Legion Firing Squad, sent in care of the funeral home.Online condolences may be sent at <a href="http://www.rumsey-yost.com" target="_blank">www.rumsey-yost.com</a>.
