Virgil V Weldon 1927 - 2005 Horton
Kennekuk Church services for Virgil V. Weldon, 77, Atchison, will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Kickapoo Community Building on the Kickapoo Reservation west of Horton. Burial will be in Kennekuk Indian Cemetery on the Kickapoo Reservation.Mr. Weldon died Monday, April 25, 2005, at Atchison Community Hospital.He was born Dec. 9, 1927, on the Kickapoo Reservation, the son of William and Mabel Cadue Weldon. He graduated from Chilocco Indian School, in Oklahoma.Mr. Weldon served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a truck driver for 41 years before he retired. He was a member of Kennekuk Church and the Kickapoo Tribe and Reservation. He married Rose M. Bear on April 21, 1947. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a son, John, Lawrence; a daughter, Donna Paul, Aurora, Colo.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.An infant son and infant daughter died earlier.Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton.The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home in Atchison.
