W. Robert ‘Bob’ Hellstrom

Services for W. Robert “Bob” Hellstrom, 76, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Graveside services with military honors by Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14 of the American Legion will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.Mr. Hellstrom died Sunday, April 24, 2005, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.He was born July 18, 1928, in Lawrence, the son of Walter and Emma Rogers Hellstrom. He was raised in Lawrence and attended Lawrence public schools.Mr. Hellstrom served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a pressman for the Lawrence Journal-World from Feb. 1, 1948, to 1993, and then worked part-time for the Journal-World until Feb. 1, 2002. He was a member of North Lawrence Christian Church.He married Marguerite A. Goodwin on April 15, 1951, in Lawrence. She died June 11, 1985.Survivors include two daughters, Jane Hellstrom, Independence, Mo., and Pam Wallace, Lawrence; a brother, Ray Hellstrom, Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters, Roberta Hellstrom, Baldwin, and Rebecca Melton, Raytown, Mo.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his companion, Leona Hunsinger, Lawrence.Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday.Online condolences may be sent at www.rumsey-yost.com.
