Lindley A. "Lynn" Brien 1930 - 2005 Lawrence

Services for Lindley A. "Lynn" Brien, 75, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Military graveside services will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.Mr. Brien died Thursday, April 21, 2005, at his home.He was born Feb. 25, 1930, in rural Brown County, the son of George and Mary Schick Brien. He moved to Lawrence in 1943.Mr. Brien served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He owned Brien Plumbing Inc. and was a plumbing contractor for 52 years. He was a life member of Dorsey-Liberty Post 14 American Legion, and Alford-Clarke Post 852 Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of Lawrence Masonic Lodge 6 A.F. and A.M. and the Scottish Rite Bodies of Lawrence. He was a local American Legion commander in 1957, served as district commander in 1964 and 1965 and worked American Legion bingo sessions for many years.He married Bernice "Bea" Rinke Mueller on Nov. 1, 1968, in Lawrence. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include three sons, Bradley Mueller, Seattle, Samuel, Topeka, and Mike, Lawrence; a daughter, Bianca Reed, Lawrence; a sister, Mary Ann Bromley, St. Joseph, Mo., a brother, Walter, Topeka; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.The family suggests memorials to Midland Hospice of Topeka, Kansas Dialysis Services, Dorsey-Liberty Post 14 American Legion or the Kansas Lung Assn., sent in care of the mortuary.E-mail condolences may be sent to info@warrenmcelwain.com, subject: Brien.
