Betty Ruth Hay Cox-Bishop 1923 - 2005 Pomona
Pomona - Graveside services for Betty Ruth Hay Cox-Bishop, 82, Pomona, will be at 4 p.m. today at Woodlawn Cemetery in Pomona.Mrs. Cox-Bishop died Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at Village Manor Nursing Home in Ottawa.She was born March 26, 1923, in Pomona, the daughter of John Loyd and Hazel Courtney Hay. She attended Boyd School and earned her Certificate of Art from Ottawa University.Mrs. Cox-Bishop was a homemaker and a seamstress for H.D. Lee in Ottawa for several years. She was a member of Pomona United Methodist Church.She married Lonnie E. Cox on Aug. 22, 1947, in Harrisonville, Mo. He died May 25, 1968. She married Allen William Bishop on Dec. 22, 1973, in Baldwin. He died April 21, 2001.A son, Edward Cox, died earlier, and a granddaughter died earlier.Survivors include three sons, Max Cox, Logan, Lonnie Cox Jr., Faulk, Ark., and Michael Cox, Pomona; a daughter, Ruth Oliver, Sedalia, Mo.; a brother, Lowell Hay, Raytown, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.The family suggests memorials to Pomona United Methodist Church, sent in care of Dengel & Son Mortuary, 234 S.
