Jeffery Lawrence Deel Lawrence
Services for Jeffery Lawrence Deel, 32, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Baldwin City.Mr. Deel was born in Lawrence, the son of Bill and Kathy Lamb Deel.He attended Lawrence public schools and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1993. He was a member of the LHS football four-time state champion team, a wrestler, qualifying for state his senior year, and a member of the track team.He attended Garden City Community College and Baker University on football scholarships. He also attended Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Ala.Mr. Deel worked as a manager for Sonic Drive-Ins in the Kansas City and Macon, Ga., areas. He drove semitrailers for Marten Transport out of Mondovi, Wis.He married Kathy O'Konski. They divorced.Mr. Deel is survived by his parents, Lawrence; a brother, David, Lawrence; paternal grandparents, Bill and Betty Deel, Baldwin City; four uncles, Phillip Lamb, and Jim, Sam and Roy Deel; and four cousins, Sarah Deel Fox, and Chapin, Nathan and Mattie Deel.Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. until the service time Saturday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.The family suggests memorials to Lawrence High School football sent in the care of the funeral home.Online condolences may be sent at <a href="http://www.rumsey-yost.com">www.rumsey-yost.com</a>.
